Bank Accounts in Dominican
Republic
We are happy to introduce clients to reputable
financial institutions in Dominican Republic, Panama and elsewhere.
CDs (long term deposits) may be arranged by mail.
If you require a full current account with internet banking etc, you must
visit the bank in person to open the account. We can provide assistance
with opening both types of account and referrals to reputable banks.

Most banks open accounts in pesos and USD, while many banks now also operate
accounts in euros and Canadian dollars. There are no currency controls.
There is no restriction on non-residents opening bank accounts. A foreign
passport is acceptable for account opening. However, in the case of
non-residents approval from head office is required, which can take 1-2
weeks to come through. (Accounts for residents with cedula can be opened on
the spot).
There are currently 13 commercial banks and 22 credit and savings banks
authorized to operate in the Dominican Republic. There are also two foreign
banks (Citibank and Scotiabank)
